We are a community partnership that strengthens and inspires positive change to build a healthy community and prevent youth substance use.
Monthly Coalition Meeting
Coalition meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month from 3–4:30 p.m. at the SWHS library. All are welcome!
The RISE coalition is a volunteer organization dedicated to improving the health and wellness of our community by addressing risk factors known to predict a variety of problem behaviors including youth substance use. Our membership is comprised of youth, parents, law enforcement, civic groups, businesses, healthcare professionals, media, schools, local government, and more! RISE is a partnership with the Sedro-Woolley School District and United General #304, with funding provided by the Washington State Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative and the federal Drug Free Communities grant. The coalition serves the community located within the Sedro-Woolley School District. The district covers 395 square miles, including the areas of Big Lake, Clear Lake, Hamilton, Lyman and Samish.
CPWI is a community and school based model for delivering prevention programs and strategies to reduce underage misuse and abuse of alcohol, marijuana, opioids, tobacco, and other drugs. This model uses a data-informed, community level decision-making process to determine root social and emotional causes that predict problem behaviors.
CPWI focuses on:
Building healthy and safe community environments
Expanding quality preventative services in clinical, community and school settings
Empowering people to make healthy choices
Eliminating health disparities
The CPWI model allows us to better target and leverage limited public resources, increasing our ability to gain the best possible outcomes for communities. This more collaborative approach provides the long term support needed for community change.
