Since the 2020-2021 school year, Skagit County's seven school districts have faced a combined $7.94 million state funding shortfall for transportation and a staggering $46.95 million gap for special education. Sedro-Woolley School District alone has experienced a $20 million deficit for special education and $1.3 million for transportation, putting immense pressure on resources to meet growing student needs.
Surplus Auction Open to the Public
Superintendent Dr. Miriam Miralles Mickelson and School Board President Eric Johnson accepted the award on the district's behalf at Wednesday's Chamber luncheon.
After the discussion, students had the opportunity to get an up-close look at a Kenworth truck, one of PACCAR's signature models, which allowed students to see the technology and engineering behind the vehicle.
