Students dump ice water from buckets onto Big Lake Elementary School Principal Matt Lutes.

Big Lake Elementary School Principal Matt Lutes braved the cold as a bucket of ice water was dumped over his head, all in the name of raising awareness and funds for heart health!

The frosty moment kicked off the school’s heart health campaign in January, a program designed to educate students about taking care of their hearts and brains while encouraging kindness, gratitude and stress management.

The school’s efforts include fun activities and exciting incentives to motivate students and staff. For every $2,000 raised, another teacher will take the ice bucket challenge. The class that raises the most will earn a movie, pizza, and donut party during PE, while the whole school is working toward the ultimate goal of earning a movie or special show during lunch.
