We would like to announce that the Sedro-Woolley School District school board and Superintendent Mickelson have agreed to a mutual separation for no cause. Dr. Mickelson’s last day in the district was on February 20, 2025.
Dr. Mickelson was hired as superintendent in 2021. Four of the board members who hired Dr. Mickelson are no longer on the board. The current board looks forward to taking the district in a new direction, building on the work that Dr. Mickelson has done these past four years. The board is certain that Dr. Mickelson will be an outstanding asset to the districts she serves in the future.
Dr. Mickelson has been honored to serve SWSD and is proud of the progress and accomplishments within this community during her tenure as superintendent. She will always treasure her time in Sedro-Woolley and will miss working with the students, staff, and families here.
With this announcement, the board would now like to focus on efforts to find a new superintendent. Following that, the board will attend to developing a new district strategic plan with the new superintendent. Additional information about the search process will be announced soon.
We all look forward to a productive path forward!
Respectfully,
Eric Johnson
