🎉 Abby Gardner is the Sedro-Woolley Soroptimist Student of the Month for October 2024! Abby, a senior at Sedro-Woolley High School, is all about volleyball! She has played on the Varsity Volleyball team for four years, lettered every season, and has participated in nine club volleyball seasons. She also referees middle school volleyball, is the Senior Class President, National Honor Society Co-President, and works at Starbucks, where she connects with the community through coffee. ☕🏐 🌟 CTE classes at SWHS have allowed Abby to explore various career paths, ultimately leading her to pursue animal science. After graduation, she plans to attend Colorado State University to major in Biology and eventually enter the veterinary field. 🎉 Landon Steele is the Sedro-Woolley Soroptimist Student of the Month for November 2024! Landon, a senior at Sedro-Woolley High School, loves playing music and spending time with family and friends. As the owner of a videography business, Landon has created wedding videos, promos for small businesses, and sports coverage for SWHS. He serves as ASB President, is active in Orchestra, Jazz Band, Track and Field, and Cross Country, and held the role of Class President from his freshman to his junior year. 🎥 CTE classes at SWHS have been instrumental in helping Landon refine his passion for video production and media. 🎉 Carla Jimenez-Nava is the Sedro-Woolley Soroptimist Student of the Month for November 2024! Carla, a senior at Sedro-Woolley High School, enjoys spending time with family and watching movies. At school, she is the Cultural Ambassador for ASB, Secretary for Latinos in Action, Social Media Manager for National Honor Society and Club Diversity, and Yearbook Editor. Carla is also part of the C.A.M.P. club, plays basketball and tennis, and continues to inspire as an active member of her community. 📚 CTE classes at SWHS have fueled Carla's passion for design and marketing, leading her to pursue a career as a graphic designer. After graduation, Carla plans to attend a four-year university to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Visual Communications and Design. Reminder: There will be an informational meeting for interested families at Evergreen Elementary at 5:30 p.m. November 21, 2024. The bus, which will depart from Cascade Middle School, will take registered riders to and from the Mount Baker Ski Areas all four Saturdays in March 2025. This opportunity is open to all students in grades 6–12. It is not limited to Sedro-Woolley School District students. Registrations will be accepted at Evergreen (cash or check) “Attention: Winter Ride, Krissa Ammons" This is a four-week program - March 1, 8, 15, 22 (Saturdays only). Please note that Mount Baker provides discounts on passes, lessons and rentals to youth who have enrolled with an approved Winter Ride organization. Thank you for your understanding! 🚨 7:50 a.m. Update on Birdsview Alarm 🚨 We have received confirmation that the evacuation alarm sounding at Skagit County Fire District 10 in Birdsview is due to a siren failure. There is no need to evacuate at this time. Our bus routes in Hamilton and Lyman will continue as planned, and student safety remains our top priority. Thank you for your patience as we worked to clarify this situation. 7:40 a.m. Our district phone system is currently experiencing issues with incoming calls. While outgoing calls and internal communication are still operational, we are actively working with our vendor to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. Additionally, we are aware of the evacuation alarm sounding at Skagit County Fire District 10 in Birdsview. We are awaiting further updates from the county. Student safety remains our top priority, and we are continuing to pick up students on bus routes in Hamilton and Lyman as scheduled. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Landon Steele has been named October Rotary Student of the Month. He is the son of Jesse and Jessica Steele of Sedro-Woolley. Landon maintains a 3.8 GPA while being actively involved in Sedro-Woolley High School. He has been Class President every year, and is our current ASB President. He has participated in Varsity Cross Country and Varsity Track all four years, as well as playing bass in Orchestra all four years and Advanced Orchestra for three years. Landon has also participated in our Jazz Band for four years. He has taken many honors classes over his high school career including AP Human Geography, AP US History and AP Language Arts. Outside of school, Landon owns his own videography business. He has shot several weddings and promos for small businesses, as well as sporting events for SWHS. Landon was hired by our very own Steelclaw Wrestling Club to film the wrestling season making hype reels to boost the program. In Landon’s free time, he enjoys playing music, and spending time with family and friends. After graduation, Landon plans to attend a college with a great video production and media program. He hopes to continue making promos for college sporting events and local small businesses, to find his niche. Congratulations Landon!
